Steps to Take Before Dental Help
Even when you reach out for emergency help, it can take a little time before you can be in the chair getting treatment from our doctors. In the meantime, follow these steps:
- Gently rinse out your mouth with warm salt water.
- If there is bleeding, use a piece of gauze applied to the injury site for 10 – 20 minutes.
- Apply a cold ice pack wrapped in a paper towel (20min on, 20min off) to the outside of your mouth. It can help to calm down the pain and swelling.
- If a tooth fell out due to trauma, immediately rinse it, place it back in the socket, and come in immediately to see your dentist.
